Tai Wātea – Waves of Freedom
Waves of Freedom is a documentary about a surf therapy programme that is transforming the lives of troubled young Māori men in New Zealand. Featuring perspectives from a probation officer, police constable, judge, medical doctor, psychologist and participants in the programme – the film tells stories of surfing, mental health and transformation, set against the stunning backdrop of Mount Maunganui, a beach town on New Zealand’s east coast.
